This June 2006 picture of a pronghorn antelope looking back at me saying "look at the Cedar Mountains in the distance". Between the antelope and the Cedar Mountains is the Skull Valley Indian Reservation. This picture was taken at the base of the Onaqui Mountain looking west.

From this overlook we had a birds-eye view of the Rush Valley in Utah and the mountain is the distance. In the foregound, there are large stands of junipers.

This picture of the Onaqui Mountains on Highway 199 in Utah gives you another option for scenery. It's not just the Wasatch or desert that is beautiful. There are many different types of mountains in Utah to visit and they are uncrowded and well worth a visit. We had hoped to see some wild horses on this trip but they never showed up.

The Onaqui Mountains of Utah are located west and south of Salt Lake City. It's only about 40 air miles to get to these fascinating peaks. There are a group of wild horses located in this range. This was just a good time to get out and smell the aroma of the fresh mountain air in Utah.

We didn't get the chance to get into the Mount Nebo Wilderness Area today. This picture is shot facing east towards this magnificent mountain range. These mountain peaks top out at around 12,000 feet and in the lower elevation you can find big stands of aspen trees and beautiful meadows. The Mount Nebo Wilderness Area is close to Payson Utah.

This June 2006 day trip out to desert island mountain ranges in Utah was quite interesting. We were driving south on State Route 193 when we came across this cow grazing in the field. At first we thought it was a huge deer but as it turned out, it was a cow. You can see this Skull Vally cows brand and ear tag.

This shade tree gave us some relief from the head and a perfect opportunity to capture a beautiful old tree on film. This tree sits next to a dry stream bed, which is also the trailed bed on this hike. When it rains, I'm sure the stream bed fills up rather quickly and disappears just as quickly. It also provides all the water needs for this huge old desert tree.
